Funky Noodle was born from a passion for authentic Northwest Chinese cuisine. Our founders grew up along the ancient Silk Road, where hand-pulled noodles are not just food—they're an art form passed down through generations.
In 2018, we brought this tradition to London's Charing Cross Road, creating a space where the bold flavours of Xinjiang and Lanzhou could thrive. Every dish tells a story of the Silk Road—aromatic cumin, smoky lamb, and of course, our signature hand-pulled noodles.
Today, our skilled noodle masters continue the centuries-old tradition, stretching and pulling fresh noodles to order right before your eyes.

The art of hand-pulled noodles, known as "la mian" (拉面), requires years of practice to master. Our noodle masters start with a simple dough of flour, water, and salt—then transform it into hundreds of silky strands in seconds.
This mesmerising process—stretching, twisting, and pulling—creates noodles with the perfect texture: springy, chewy, and able to hold onto rich broths and sauces. It's a skill that machines simply cannot replicate.
